The second-round draw for the 2021/22 Walter C Parson Funeral Directors League Cup has been made.
The competition, which is played for by the South West Peninsula League clubs, sees all 38 teams put in an open draw, with teams from the SWPL’s respective divisions – Premier West and Premier East – able to play against each other.
The last-32 ties will be played on Saturday, October 16 with six of them guaranteed to be Premier West v Premier East, although there are six first-round ties to be played on either Tuesday, September 7 or Wednesday, September 8.
The 12 teams needed for the first round were league newcomers Penryn Athletic, Okehampton Argyle and Ottery St Mary with nine randomly selected.
The first-round ties are: Falmouth Town v Penryn Athletic; Holsworthy v Okehampton Argyle; Newton Abbot Spurs v Callington Town; Newquay v Godolphin Atlantic; Ottery St Mary v Axminster and Torpoint Athletic v Dobwalls.
In round two, Camelford entertain Dartmouth. Although the Camels were in the old SWPL Premier Division, Dartmouth were never at that level. However, the South Devon side have fared well in recent seasons and should provide a stern test at Trefrew Park.
Liskeard Athletic get a visit from Paul Rowe’s Wadebridge Town, in a tie which should be close.
If Callington can win away at Newton Abbot, they will face Bodmin Town at Ginsters Marshfield Parc. Bodmin will be amongst the favourites for the competition.
Launceston boss Dan Hart has a long trip to contend with as they have to go all the way down to Gala Parc to face Porthleven. The Fishermen and Clarets are both in Premier West.
Holsworthy welcome Okehampton Argyle in the first round. The reward if they get through is an away tie at Stoke and Torbay, which is a new club formed from the teams of Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police.
There’s an East Cornwall battle as Torpoint meet Dobwalls at The Mill, with a home tie against Newquay or Godolphin Atlantic up for grabs.
Second-round draw: Brixham v Sticker; Camelford v Dartmouth; Cullompton Rangers v Elmore; Elburton Villa v St Austell; Honiton Town v Plymouth Marjon; Ivybridge Town v Torrington; Liskeard Athletic v Wadebridge Town; Newton Abbot Spurs or Callington Town v Bodmin Town; Ottery St Mary or Axminster v St Dennis; Porthleven v Launceston; Sidmouth Town v Falmouth Town or Penryn Athletic; St Blazey v Penzance; Stoke and Torbay v Holsworthy or Okehampton Argyle; Torpoint Athletic or Dobwalls v Newquay or Godolphin Atlantic; Torridgeside v Crediton United; Wendron United v Bovey Tracey.
