LAUNCESTON AFC head to Callington Town for a Boxing Day showdown in SWPL Premier West looking to pull clear of trouble (2.30pm).

The Clarets have endured a wretched season so far on the field, not helped by a crippling injury list, mass unavailability and several suspensions.

Despite that, they aren’t adrift and will take solace from last season where they started slowly before ending tenth.

Cally on the other hand continue to grow having finished seventh last year and going into the weekend’s fixtures sat fifth.

Dean Southcott’s men had the weekend off and go into the game with nine wins and three draws from their 15 outings, conceding just 15 goals in the process.

Launceston will need to be at their best to get a result but will hope for a repeat of last year’s Boxing Day clash at Cally which they won 3-2 in front of a crowd of 245.
