HOLSWORTHY fell to their second defeat in the space of 48 hours last night as they were beaten 4-2 by visiting Bovey Tracey at Upcott Field.
With the SWPL Premier East season due to finish on Bank Holiday Monday (May 1), the Magpies had already played Brixham and Bridport in the last few days, and remarkably still have another three games to play starting with a visit from Dartmouth tonight (7.45pm).
They finish the season with a trip to Honiton Town on Saturday (3pm) before hosting champions Brixham on Monday (2pm).
Last night saw the Magpies take on an in-form Bovey side that look destined for a top six finish.
The Moorlanders took an eighth minute lead through Lee Hildreth before Ollie Aplin, who went on to notch a hat-trick, doubled the lead on the half-hour.
Holsworthy pulled one back shortly before the break through winger Rhys Loosemore, and then equalised after the hour through the in-form Gavin Carter.
However Bovey responded almost straight away to go back in front through Aplin who then added a fourth with 15 to go.
Holsworthy’s hopes of finishing outside the bottom three were dealt a blow by the news that local rivals Torrington had beaten Axminster Town 1-0 at Vicarage Field.
