Elburton Villa 4

CAMELFORD’s struggles continue as they fell to another defeat despite taking an early lead through Josh Insley following a long throw by top-scorer Adam Sleep.

Villa were level on 23 minutes as some slack defending was punished by Robbie Mann.

Elburton are enjoying a decent season following promotion and they went into half-time 2-1 up as star striker Nick Aplin fired home.

The Camels continued to battle away but were done on the counter attack by Jake Miller before Sam Tattersall’s header from a corner made it 4-1 with more than 20 minutes remaining.

To their credit, Camelford dominated the final stages and grabbed a consolation when Sleep sent Mark Gusterson through and the veteran striker did the rest.

The North Cornwall side are back in league action next Saturday when they make the long trip to Exmouth Town (3pm).

THE clash at Pennygillam was postponed due to ongoing problems with the floodlights caused by Storm Callum last month.

St Austell 3

Callington Town 1

NEW Callington Town manager Adam Chidzoy is still waiting for his first point since replacing Kevin Pethick recently as they fell victim to a Liam Eddy hat-trick at Poltair Park.

Eddy just took six minutes to break the deadlock before Callington equalised 17 minutes later thanks to Billy Coton’s shot from outside the area.

However they were behind once more within two minutes and Eddy clinched the points late on in the second-half.

Callington are on the road again on Saturday as they head to mid-table Newquay (3pm).

Bude Town 3

Penzance 2

JACK Watson’s second-half strike gave Bude Town their first home points of the season as they beat Penzance 3-2 at Broadclose Park.

The Seasiders had just a solitary win to their name before Saturday and fell behind early on.

However, man-of-the-match Harry Hopcroft was in determined mood and struck twice in the opening 45 minutes, the first from 25 yards before he slotted in following a scramble in the six-yard box.

Teenager Morgan Hume restored parity to set up a frantic second-half which just saw the one goal as Watson was left unmarked at the back-post to score and give them the most vital of victories ahead of their Cornwall Charity Cup clash with Illogan RBL on Saturday (2pm).

St Dennis 2

Holsworthy 3

TOM Robinson scored with a 30-yard lob in injury-time as Holsworthy won a five-goal thriller at St Dennis.

The Magpies dominated the first-half and should have been more than 2-0 up.

They took the lead on 15 minutes as some neat play led to Harry Barrett slotting home from close range.

Brad Birch, on his full debut for the first team after stepping up from the reserves, went close with a header, before Jay Thomas’s free-kick whistled just past the post.

At the other end, Lee Rickard went close hitting the outside of the post.

Taren Stacey, Shaun Jones, who were both making their debuts after joining from Torridgeside and Liskeard Athletic respectively, combined to set up man-of-the-match Thomas, who smashed home from 25 yards out.

Right on half-time Birch saw a free-kick well saved.

In the second-half it was pretty much one way traffic with St Dennis doing everything they could to score but Holsworthy’s backline stood strong with Ryan Walter only having one save of note to make from Carl Rickard.

On the counter, Robinson, Stacey and Birch all went close before the Boscawen Park outfit fought back.

With ten minutes remaining, Jacob Rowe pulled one back after a mistake in defence and on 89 minutes Lee Rickard equalised after Walter saved well from Rowe.

However from kick-off, the ball went back to Walter and his long delivery eluded the St Dennis backline, allowing Robinson to lob the onrushing goalkeeper and win the game in the most dramatic circumstances.
