North Devon Football League round-up – Saturday, December 14

HOLSWORTHY Reserves picked up a much-needed victory in the Premier Division on Saturday as they won 4-0 at fellow mid-table outfit AFC Dumnonii.

The Magpies had won just three of their opening 11 league games, but Ben Sharpe’s hat-trick ensured the points came back to Upcott Field.

Full-back Kieran Jollow got the other goal.

Morwenstow produced a fine comeback to thrash High Bickington 7-2.

The Greens travelled on a decent run of form, but after a slow start deservedly found themselves 2-0 down due to Charlie Suliauskas’ double.

But Cal Rogers’ screamer halved the deficit before the break and when Jake Gilbert levelled it up early in the second half, the floodgates opened.

Rogers got the next two to complete his hat-trick, while Gilbert helped himself to a treble either side of Ritchie Armstrong getting on the scoresheet.

Shebbear United were handed a home walkover by South Molton.

Sheb remain third in the table with 28 points from 15 games.

Morwenstow are eight points further back in fifth but with four fixtures in-hand.

There were three games involving Post area clubs on Saturday in Intermediate One.

Promotion-chasing Bradworthy moved level on points with second-placed Braunton Thirds after a 5-3 victory.

Tudor Placinta hit a hat-trick for the hosts with Dom Abbott adding a brace.

Morwenstow Reserves had a disappointing afternoon as they were beaten 3-1 by their visiting Hartland counterparts.

Hartland led 2-0 at the break and although Toby Trewin did pull one back, it wasn’t enough.

The away scorers were Jake Cleave, Keith Cornish and sub Alfie Scott.

Holsworthy Thirds had a good afternoon as they surprised Putford 4-3 at the Glebe Field in Bideford.

Harry Grigg (2), Todd Peschke and Rhys Streeter netted for the visitors with Putford replying through Aaron Brookes, Will Richards and Chris Pomeroy.
