SWPL PREMIER WEST (SATURDAY)

Camelford 0 Sticker 2

STICKER produced a classic away performance to leave the Camels frustrated at what might have been.

Both teams went into the game in the bottom six and with Bodmin beating Holsworthy and bottom side Launceston defeating St Day, it ensured a disappointing afternoon for the hosts who dominated throughout.

The Camels started quickly and their fast attacking play stretched the Sticker defence.

With Kenley Dyson and Andy Boxall pulling the strings in midfield, the hosts continued to look the more dangerous side throughout the first half without unduly troubling Ethan Elwell in the villagers’ net.

The second half was more even but Camelford looked more like to open the scoring with well-worked moves down both flanks.

But apart from a routine save from Boxall’s free kick, Elwell still had little to do.

Josh Colwill was similarly quiet in the Camels goal, and Sticker\s first real attempt came when Harvey Hann volleyed wide from a corner after 70 minutes.

But after Camelford continued to go forward, Sticker took the lead ten minutes from time.

They broke down the right and the cross was finished well by Haiden Chapman from six yards.

Camelford responded well and Josh Caddy volleyed wide from six yards before a goal line block denied Shae Cardiff from a corner.

To sum up the home side’s day, Sticker then scored again in the fourth minute of injury-time.

With everybody forward for a free-kick, Chapman broke away and again finished well to earn a crucial three points.
