BUDE Town boss Steve Hackett wants his side to ‘cause them some problems’ when the Seasiders visit local rivals Holsworthy later in SWPL Premier West (7.30pm).

Town have picked up back-to-back draws at Dobwalls and bottom side Launceston to seemingly avoid any little danger there was of finishing near the bottom and are now up to 12th in the 16-team division with two matches left, both against their neighbours with the home game set for Good Friday morning (11am).

This will be the second meeting between the two of the season after the Devonians won the recent Torridge Cup semi-final at Torrington 1-0 thanks to Gavin Carter’s early goal.

Holsworthy will start as favourites after losing just one of their last eight league games in SWPL Premier West, all while conceding just once, an own goal in a 1-0 defeat by Camelford.

Ryan Hall’s side are up to eighth in the table and Hackett is expecting an intriguing encounter at Upcott Field.

He said: “We’re really looking forward to facing our neighbours from across the border again this evening. It’ll be another tough match against Ryan and his lads who have picked up some impressive results of late.

“But as usual we’ll be looking to create and test them in front of what should be a big crowd.

“Our youngsters are really looking forward to the challenge, and although we know Holsworthy are very tight defensively and on a good run of form, we like to get the ball down and play football.

“We’ll certainly be up for it and hopefully we can cause them some problems.”

Hackett also gave his thoughts on Tuesday’s draw at Launceston, admitting the draw was ‘probably about right’.

The Seasiders were in front inside two minutes through Callum Deemer, but were pegged back 20 minutes before the end by Mike Steele’s penalty.

Hackett feels his side are heading in the right direction.

He said: “I was really pleased with our first half performance at Launceston, we attacked with purpose and took a nice early lead with a great ball out from the back from Ewan (Reeves) over the top to Deemer who finished so coolly. We were comfortable and in control.

“Second half Launceston came at us and had more threat, they won a dubious penalty which we weren’t happy with and it was avoidable as it came about from a foul throw initially.

“I feel on the balance of the night with our first half showing and theirs in the second half, a draw was probably about right.

“We are playing some nice football at the moment and the change of shape to a 3-5-2 has definitely given us positives, we seem a lot more compact as a unit and the formation suits us.

“It was a tough game, Launceston were a strong outfit and with some good youngsters in there too.”
