Callington Town 3

THE?visitors put in a brave performance before eventually succumbing to their gifted young hosts at Coach Road, Newton Abbot.

After Isaac Burdon put the Greens ahead, Cally hit back with two goals in four minutes through Lloyd Russell and Paul McAdam.

Argyle levelled on the stroke of half-time through Adam Randell’s brilliant free-kick but Cally went back in front on 56 minutes when Kev McCallion fired home from the spot.

However Argyle equalised through Klaidi Lolos before Rio Garside fired in a hat-trick.

Carlsberg?South West Peninsula League

Premier Division

Newquay 2

Camelford 0

IT’S now five games without a win for the Camels who are starting to feel the effects of losing a number of players to university.

After losing 5-0 at high-flying Saltash United on Tuesday night, they’d have been confident of bouncing back at Mount Wise.

However, the home side, who had beaten Plymouth Argyle 5-2 in the week, proved too strong.

Camelford welcome Millbrook to Trefrew Park on Saturday (3pm) following Tuesday night’s daunting trip to Falmouth Town.

Division One (West)

St Dennis 4

Bude Town 3

FIVE?games no points for Bude but if they continue to play like they did on Saturday it shouldn’t be too long until they start climbing the table.

Both teams started brightly and it was clear an open game was on the cards with both sides hitting the target with early chances.

The deadlock was broken ten minutes in when Richard Hawke’s speculative long-range strike hit the underside of the bar and rebounded off Bude goalkeeper Matt Warburton and into the back of the net.

The visitors piled the pressure on and were back on level terms when Chris Hill swept in a corner ten minutes later.

The game continued to be end to end and the next 20 minutes ultimately won St Dennis the points.

A brace from Jacob Rowe and one from Tyler Trudgeon meant the home side went into half-time with a three-goal cushion.

Bude, who had played well in the first-half, came out fighting after the break. Plenty of pressure and chances finally told when Wes Pugh drilled home after some good build up play from Josh Allen.

The game was then lit up by a wonder goal from Harry Hopcroft who controlled the ball, swivelled and volleyed home from all of 35 yards.

Bude now really had their tails up and pushed hard for an equaliser, but ultimately ran out of time.

The Seasiders are back in action on Saturday when they make the long trip to West Cornwall to take on Mousehole (3pm).
