LIFTON’S Finley Arscott competed in round six of the Superstock National Championship class of the British Superbike Championships at Brands Hatch over the third weekend in July.
Fin, who rides for JR Performance Racing, finished in eighth and 11th on his Honda bike in the two races, and he has given his thoughts, starting from Saturday’s qualifying where he finished fourth.
Fin said: “Saturday’s qualifying was a very surprising session for me, after going out on new rubber straight away I wanted to do a quick lap from the get go rather than take my time and build into the session.
“This played into my hands massively, as not only did I do a PB lap time, but just after I completed my first flying lap it started raining. I was amazed to see P4 on my pit board and the rain caught most people out so I ended up heading the second row which put me in a great position for the race.”
“Saturday was an awesome race and I was so chuffed with the result. After getting slightly beat up at the start I held my position and just kept clicking the laps off and brought it home with my best result of the season. Another PB in the race so we made another step forward and I couldn’t wait for race two.
“Sunday’s race saw me start 13th due to my lap time in the first race, and I knew I could go forward from my position. I had a fantastic race, and a long battle. After dropping back to 16th I fought hard all the way to 11th which was again another amazing result for me and the team.
“Overall me and the team made huge improvements all weekend, and I really surprised myself with what I achieved. I can’t thank the team enough for giving me a bike to showcase what I am capable of.”
