THE latest race in the Cornwall Grand Prix Series – the Magnificent 7 – was held on Sunday, July 7.
This ever popular race held by the Tamar Trotters Running Club and starts and finishes at Saltash RFC, is a challenging seven-mile road race through the country lanes that surround the town with good views over the Tamar and Lynher Estuaries.
There were several impressive performances from Launceston Road Runners, including age category victories for Kevin Marshall and Jenny Mills.
The times were as follows: Kevin Marshall – 51:15 (first in M60-64); David Thomson – 52:51 (second in M60-64); Eddie Thomson – 57:38; Claire Winfield – 1:01:54 (third in F55-59); Jenny Mills – 1:02:53 (first in F75-79); Emma James – 1:11:36; Linda Pickard – 1:12:03; Dave Pickard – 1:14:12; Jackie Chapman – 1:15:55; Elaine Hill – 1:18:15; Martin Venning – 1:18:48; Lorraine Hawkins – 1:21:15; Lavinia Marshall – 1:23:15 (second in F70-74); John Barnes – 1:23:41.
The next race of the series is the four-mile Turkey Trot in Redruth on Wednesday, July 17.
