THE weekend festival of all things vintage is rapidly approaching for Holsworthy, as the town prepares to enjoy its traditional vintage rally and family fun day, all for the price of a donation.

This year’s event will be held on the last weekend of June, with a series of events taking place on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30.

All the events across the weekend will be held at The Showground, Rydon, Holsworthy, EX22 6JP, which is accessible from the A3072 road.

While the weather for the event cannot be predicted, what is for sure is a plentiful supply of fun for the whole family, ranging from the displays of vintage vehicles to more interactive parts of the event’s offering, which includes a dog show and licensed bar.

The weekend’s events start with a bang on the Friday prior to the two-day event, with live music in the marquee on June 28 kicking the Holsworthy Vintage Rally 2024 off in style from 7pm.

Following this, the main event kicks off in earnest between 10am and 5pm on Saturday and concluding between the same times on the Sunday.

Among the multiple attractions on offer include the items for which the event is named in reference to, namely a display of full size and miniature engines, vintage classic tractors, motorbikes and a visual encyclopaedia of cars spanning all ages and sizes, sure to delight and display the survivor vehicles from times gone past, lovingly restored and maintained.

In addition to the two-and-four-wheel stars of the show, a series of events will be held in the arena at the showground, providing a timetable of fun surrounding the main attractions.

A craft tent will display a visual smorgasbord of items to admire and purchase, while four-wheels is swapped for four-legs in a section comprising of both a dog show and an opportunity to ‘meet the hounds’.

There will also be a wood working demonstration, allowing visitors the opportunity to marvel at the specialised craftsmen making visual wonders from nature’s building material and a kid’s play area is also available for when the younger members of the family need to expend the energy that youthful excitement brings.

For the adults, a licensed bar will be available on-site with vendors also providing refreshments to keep everyone fed and watered through the event.

The end of the first day of the show, on Saturday, will once again feature live music in the marquee from 7pm.

Organisers for the event described it as: “Cars, bikes, tractors, steam, you name it, we love it. Oh, and throw in a dog show, some entertainment, trade and food stands and bits for the kids to do and you are looking at a fantastic day out.”
