A weekend of celebrations has been held at Halwill Baptist Church on September 24 and 25 for the official opening of the new kitchen and storeroom and refurbishment of the church building as well as the garden area.

The building of the kitchen and storeroom was commenced in April 2019 and completed in November 2019.

The official opening was planned for May 2020, unfortunately it had to be postponed due to the COVID pandemic.

Grants were received from the Garfield Weston Foundation 60th Anniversary Fund (£40,000), Pennon Environmental Fund (£20,000), Balsdon Trust (£1,000) and the Teignmouth Voluntary Services (£300). Many anonymous donations were gratefully received.

In March 2022 work began on the church building, the pews were taken out and replaced with chairs, redecorated and new heaters and sound system installed,

Hopefully lunches and Christmas meals will go ahead this year.

The new kitchen was official opened by Rev Nigel Manges (South West Baptist Association Regional Minister)
