THE Holsworthy Carnival Queen, Alice Healy, attended Barnstaple Carnival on Saturday, September 17, and was delighted to receive first place for the ‘Visiting Queen’.

She has previously attended Torrington Carnival, Bradworthy Carnival, and Bude Carnival and is looking forward to going to Launceston and Okehampton Carnival as well.

Alice is nearing the end of her reign as the Holsworthy Carnival Queen, and the Holsworthy & District Lions are inviting applications for the position for this year’s Holsworthy Carnival on November 19.

The closing date for applications for Fairy Queen and Carnival Queen is September 23. The Fairy Queen should live in the catchment area for Holsworthy Primary School and the Carnival Queen should live in the catchment area for Holsworthy College.

Trailers will be provided for both Queens, together with a contribution towards the cost of decorating the trailers, but the theme and actual decoration of the floats will be down to the Queens and their families.

The ‘Royalty’ would be expected to attend Holsworthy Carnival, which would be for free, but they would also be encouraged to attend any other local carnivals they wish.

The Queens will be selected the following week. Anybody interested should contact Holsworthy & District Lions on [email protected]
