Two men from Redruth have been arrested as a murder investigation in Bodmin continues after the death of a teenager over the weekend.
Devon and Cornwall Police were called following an altercation at a property on Wallace Road, Bodmin just after midnight on Sunday 23 July.
Following this altercation one man sustained a serious injury. He was taken to hospital by a member of the public but the 18-year-old man who is local to the area, died of his injuries in the car park of Bodmin Hospital.
His next of kin have been informed and formal identification along with a full post-mortem is due to take place tomorrow, Tuesday 25 July.
Detective Inspector Ilona Rosson from the Major Crime Team said: “Our investigation continues as my team and I attempt to piece together what happened at Wallace Road, that resulted in the death of a local man.
“A 17-year-old local male who was arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody, as does an 18-year-old local man on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
“In the early hours of this morning we arrested two further men in connection to this matter.
“A 27-year-old man from Redruth has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice. An 18-year-old man, also from Redruth has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and assisting an offender; Both men remain in police custody and await questioning.”
Numerous scene guards remain in place in and around Wallace Road in Bodmin and a highly visible police presence remains in the area undertaking door-to-door enquiries as part of the investigation.
DI Rosson added: “I appreciate how this death will come as a shock to the local community and I want to reassure them that we are doing everything in our power to understand what has taken place.
“Please speak to our officers at the scene if you have concerns, and please report any information that could assist with the enquiry.
“We are still appealing for witnesses and would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Wallace Road, Berrycoombe Road, and the A389 between Cardell Road and Bodmin Hospital between 10:00pm Saturday 22 July and 1:30am on Sunday 23 July.
“Lastly, we are also appealing for CCTV, doorbell camera and dashcam footage that covers these areas during the stated time period as part of our investigation.”
