The members of the Tamar Valley Male Voice Choir, accompanied by Dr Sean Sweeney, and directed by Rosemary Cole presented a mixed and enjoyable programme that was a lovely end to as beautiful summer’s day on Saturday, September 2 at the Parish Church of St Mary, Lifton.
Items included songs from the shows, rousing hymn tunes, and everything from “Elvis” to the operatic stage. They were joined by Mary and Leslie Mazur-Park who entertained the appreciative audience, made up of locals and followers of the choir, with two sets of music for oboe and piano. There was much applause. Leslie Mazur-Park then joined the choir for an arrangement of “Gabriel’s Oboe” by Morricone.
Rev Philip Conway said: “There was a great deal of convivial conversation and laughter during the interval when tea, coffee and biscuits were consumed, and plenty of raffle tickets were purchased.
“Everyone present enjoyed the concert enormously. Both the choir and church funds were enhanced, and Lifton is looking forward very much to a future visit.”
