MORE than £200,000 of money raised from levies charged on developers as part of approved planning permission is set to help transform Holsworthy’s community facilities in the coming years.

The annual infrastructure funding statement (IFS), published by Torridge District Council shows the amounts of money agreed between developers and the council to be given for community projects, known as Section 106 funding.

The vast majority of the money secured for Holsworthy in the last 12 months will go towards off site parks and recreational facilities.

£189,761.68 is to be paid towards this by the developer behind proposals for 50 homes at Westaways, to the east of Dobles Lane, paid in four instalments after a set number of homes built are occupied. A further £9,123.16 is to be paid as a contribution towards community allotments.

There is also £14,629.09 allocated towards the provision of green infrastructure in the parish.

The report also shows that £10,161 previously received has gone towards improvements at Stanhope Park.

Councillor Rosemary Lock, lead member for planning and development, said: “I am pleased to draw attention to the Infrastructure Funding Statement 2023/2024, which gives a clear indication that planning provides a vital source of funding for infrastructure in the local communities of Torridge. The IFS shows that there is good engagement between officers and applicants to provide for communities.”
