ROAD repairs got underway in Launceston on May 8 as Highway Maintenance were out in force utilising the Velocity machine.

The team were spotted near Prout’s Corner utilising the high power machine to correct small defects in the road.

A spokesperson from Velocity explained: “The Velocity patcher forces air at high speed into potholes to clear them out, then the area is coated with cold bitumen to create a perfect seal, before aggregate is coated in bitumen and applied, again at high speed.

“The process takes just a couple of minutes, but the intensive bottom-up layering process makes for a strong durable repair without causing further damage to the road.”
