POLICE are investigating after a young teenage boy was allegedly robbed by three men in Launceston.

It was reported that the boy was walking on the path between Race Hill and Coronation Park around 4.55pm on Tuesday, June 4, when he saw the trio on a bench.

After he passed them he was followed and approached by the men. They demanded money and his mobile phone.

He refused to hand over the phone but gave them a small amount of cash before they left.

The boy was not injured or threatened but was left very shaken by the incident.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson, explained: “Police are investigating and seeking three suspects described as white and aged between 17 and 29. They were all wearing tracksuits and one man had a goatee beard. Another suspect was wearing jewellery, including a neck chain.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to assist with the investigation is asked to contact police. Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have captured the men on CCTV or dashcam in the area.

Speaking to the Post, the parent of the teen said: “After what has happened, I would advise parents against letting their children take that route.”
