A PLEA has been issued for a mystery cone mover to stop their activities – after their latest escapade saw a cone stuck on a phone line.
The Polzeath Beach Ranger Service, which works to maintain and enhance the beach and surrounding area as a recreational resource while ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors, shared a warning from BT Openreach about the dangers of the latest incident.
They said that while the person(s) responsible might enjoy the activity of putting cones in unusual places, if the cone that had been put on the line had fallen it could have hit a person or vehicle. In addition, they said it could lead to technical failures for internet connectivity.
In a statement condemning the actions, the Polzeath Beach Ranger Service spokesperson said: “Despite the insatiable endeavours from he or she who has a penchant for displacing cones to unusual places in Polzeath, Openreach advises that the cones may fall on a person or vehicle, and they place excessive tension on the data/phone lines which the shops payment systems use.”
They called on the individual to stop their actions in order to prevent an impact on business owners, staff and customers in the popular seaside village.
