PLANS to build up to 41 homes on land at Holly Lane Farm, Halwill Junction, have been rejected by planners who say the development would detract from the character of the area and have an adverse impact on the whole settlement.
The refusal notice said: “The proposal represents the significant encroachment into the undeveloped countryside which would be harmful to its intrinsic character and beauty.”
Halwill Parish Council was among the objectors saying the local infrastructure, including doctors, dentists and schools, was already overstretched. It also commented that there was not enough demand for local employment in the area so people would have to commute by car.
