Launceston is set to get a new takeaway service as Domino's set up shop in the town.

After submitting a change of use planning application back in July 2022, the fast food pizza chain has been moving into the venue which was previously part of the Sprys car salesroom at the Pennygillam industrial estate.

In a design and access statement submitted in the application last year, it states: “The proposed change of use would allow for the occupation of a vacant commercial unit and would provide a number of employment opportunities for local residents including young people. Indeed, it is anticipated the proposed use could provide up to 25 full and part-time job opportunities including a manager, deputy manager, kitchen staff, and delivery drivers required.

“The proposal would also result in the reoccupation of a vacant building which is detracting from the appearance of the area. The proposed operator is an internationally renowned operator who would be making a significant investment in the site. The works associated with the occupation of the site by Domino's will enhance the appearance of the building which has an untidy and unattractive appearance at present.”

However, after months of waiting, Domino's looks ready to bring pizza to Launceston after signage and décor have been erected at the site this morning. 

When contacted by the Post regarding the branch's opening, a spokesperson said: “We’re delighted to be opening a new store in Launceston early next month, bringing our fresh homemade pizzas to even more loyal customers. 

"We’re also on the lookout for exceptional people to be part of our store team."
