A NEW repair café is set to launch next month in a North Cornwall town.

Launceston Repair Café is set to host its inaugural event, with residents encouraged to bring along their broken items in the hopes they can be repaired.

The latest addition to the town’s community social calendar is set to be held on Saturday, July 6, between 9.30am and 12.30pm, with organisers stating the intention that it will match volunteers with repair experience with those who need items repaired.

It will take place at St John’s Ambulance Hall on Westgate Street, Launceston, next to the town’s multi-storey car park.

Potential repairs of broken items are not the only things on offer at the event, with attendees set to be offered cake and company while they wait, making it a social event as well as a potential vehicle for the repair, recycle and reuse of otherwise broken items.

A spokesperson said: “Bring your broken item to show our volunteer repair team and see if it can be repaired. It is a free event, with all donations welcome. Enjoy cake and company while you wait!”
