HOLSWORTHY’S coffee morning hosted by its mayor raised £154.56 for local good causes.

Residents enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy a hot drink and treats with its mayor, with the proceeds from the fundraising going towards the two mayor’s charities for the year, Holsworthy Amateur Theatrical Society and Friends of Holsworthy School.

In addition to this, cheques of £100 each were presented to three of the town’s groups which made the town’s Christmas lights display a success, namely Holsworthy Youth Club, Holsworthy Town Band and the Holsworthy and District Lions club.

Cllr Nigel Kenneally, the mayor of Holsworthy, added: “I was delighted to host the coffee morning in the Memorial hall where we raised vital funds for H.A.T.S and Friends of Holsworthy Primary School, two groups who provide much needed services in town and contribute so much to our community.

“I was also immensely proud to present three cheques of £100 each to Holsworthy Youth Club, Holsworthy Town Band and Holsworthy and District Lions club, three organisations that volunteered their time to make our Christmas lights switch on the success that it was.

“The coffee mornings that are held in the Memorial Hall every Wednesday morning are an important part of Holsworthy’s social fabric, and I would encourage everyone to come along for a coffee and a chat.”
