SOME of Launceston’s students have shown their caring side as part of their recent harvest festival celebrations this week.

Students at St Stephen’s Community Academy in Launceston have been showing their caring side as part of their harvest celebrations, as they met Yvonne King from Launceston Foodbank.

The children shared wonderful poems and songs to celebrate this special event together before welcoming welcome some of the school’s governors and Yvonne King from Launceston Foodbank.

Maura Furber, the school’s head teacher, said: “Yvonne told us all about what is involved in running the bank , the history surrounding its growth and how they support our local community.

“An enormous thank you to everyone who donated tins, cans and jars for this amazing local charity. Our House Captains were very proud to load everything into the Foodbank van knowing that families in our local communities with benefit from our  generosity and kindness.

“As Yvonne said "Your food has been given with kindness and we will pass it onto families in our community with kindness." Thank you to Yvonne and all the team who do such a worthwhile and important job in our local area.”
