AN upcoming diversion is set to send drivers a further 18 miles off route to avoid roadworks.

From January 20 to January 28, North Cornwall’s drivers are set to face hefty diversions as South West Water undertake work to install a new water supply.

The work is being carried out along the B3254 between Tiny Meadows And Hendra Lane, at South Petherwin, Launceston.

The closure will be in force 24 hours a day, including weekends.

Despite the road closure spanning less than a mile, the diversion which has been put in place will see drivers endure an 18 mile journey, adding an extra 30 minutes to travel times.

The diversion will see those heading towards Launceston rerouted back along the B3254 towards Congdon’s Shop before heading all the way to Kelly Bray. From there, drivers will follow the A388 through Treburley and into Launceston. Those heading to South Petherwin will then be directed towards Pennygillam Industrial Estate to rejoin the B3254 once again.
