THE League of Friends of Launceston Hospital have received more than £6,000 from NFU Mutual’s ‘Agency Giving Fund’.

NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at the Launceston agency recently nominated local charity League of Friends of Launceston Hospital to receive a donation of £6,509 from NFU Mutual’s national £1.92-million ‘Agency Giving Fund’.

Now in its fifth year, the fund was launched by the rural insurer in order to help local frontline charities across the country.

To ensure these donations reach all corners of the UK and are directed to where they are needed most, all NFU Mutual Agencies, made up of more than 280 offices nationwide, have been given the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund.

Lisa Dymond, chair and trustee at The League of Friends of Launceston Hospital and Community, said: “We want to thank everyone at NFU Mutual for this significant donation, especially the Launceston team for considering the League of Friends at this time.

“We have recently received a request to purchase a hoist and a couple of air mattresses for the hospital, so this generous donation will go towards acquiring these items.

“The League of Friends supports various departments including the hospital, outpatients, minor injuries, physio, medical centre, community nurses and midwives, by providing additional medical equipment that the NHS cannot afford.

“We also purchase items that the NHS cannot consider, which help comfort the patients and improve their lives, this includes small essentials and luxuries such as televisions, newspapers and emergency toiletry packs. Our efforts are made possible through the generosity and support of our local community and businesses like NFU Mutual.”

Rachel Sleep, agent at NFU Mutual Launceston Agency, said: “We are so pleased to have nominated League of Friends of Launceston Hospital  and to be able to support the vital contribution they make to our community.

“NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund was first created in 2020 in response to the pandemic, and this ongoing support is helping to change lives, providing both emergency support and building long-term resilience."
