A charity in Launceston which helps struggling families is in desperate need of support.
Christmas Angels, based in Launceston, was established before Christmas 2022 in order to support families struggling during the festive period.
Chele Perrin decided that she wanted to help a struggling family during the Christmas period, however, wanting to make sure she really was helping someone in need, she asked the local community to nominate others who they felt really needed help.
Speaking to the Post, Chele explained: “Instantly I received a few messages which made me realise that it would be so hard to choose and that I needed to help more than just the one family.”
Last Christmas, Chele decided she wanted to do it all again, supporting more families than ever before, eventually leading to her decision to go year-round with the project.
However, recently Chele has put out a call for help from the public to support the organisation’s mission.
Speaking to the Post, Chele explained: “Since making the decision at Christmas to stay open all year around at our needs have changed massively. Basically, we are in desperate need of storage solutions, i.e. racking and lidded plastic boxes.
“We have a fair amount of second-hand clothing that we have had donated, but it is currently all in plastic bags. We have the storage space, but we don't have enough shelving or boxes to organise it properly. We have the constant need of toys and digging them out of big brown boxes is becoming a bit of a nightmare when we have families reach out to us for help for their little one’s birthday.”
Supporting a huge range of children and families, the Christmas Angels team need the support of local residents to help fund their charitable work.
Chele continued: “As you can probably imagine there are so many different age ranges, interests etc that we try and cover. We still have our amazon wish list with lots of helpful items on there. We also recently created the go fund me to try and raise funds to be able to purchase the bits that we need. Both of which can be found on our Facebook page Christmas Angels.
“We are also accepting donations all year around of both pre-loved anf new toys and clothes to try and cover all aspects of help that is often needed.
“We are still situated at Unit 8 Douglas Business Park, Pennygillam ind estate PL15 7FU within the Sprys of Launceston complex and open from 8.30am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday 52 weeks of the year and always just a message away via our Facebook page day or night.”
