AFTER being invited to Buckingham Palace Katie-Jane Goodman from Week St Mary, met Prince Philip for the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards in Diamond Anniversary.
Katie-Jane, and other Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award winners, filled the gardens of Buckingham Palace on May 16, as part of the scheme’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
After meeting with Prince Philip, Katie-Jane was presented with her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award by ‘The Coxless Crew’, Laura Penhaul, Natalia Cohen, Emma Mitchell and Meg Dyos, who rowed 9,200 miles across the Pacific Ocean unaided from San Fransisco to Australia.
There were around 60 celebrities in total also at Buckingham Palace, who helped and the Earl and Countess of Wessex hand out badges and certificates to all the Gold Award holders.
Katie-Jane said: “It was a fantastic experience. I’m really glad that I completed my Gold DofE. I’m also very lucky to have had my award ceremony at Buckingham Palace, as I met so many fantastic and inspiring people.”
