POLICE have launched an investigation after a local business at an industrial estate on the outskirts of Launceston was burgled.

Pennygillam Auto Centre, located on the eponymous Pennygillam Industrial Estate, reported that it had been broken into during the early hours of the morning of Thursday, November 28.

It is reported that the entry to the offices was forced, causing damage to the building and a till located and taken.

Matt McDonnell, of Pennygillam Auto Centre said: “Just to raise awareness for everyone, we were burgled at Pennygillam Auto Centre. At 1:16am a vehicle parked up down the road and out of sight, they stayed in the vehicle for quite some time until 2:18 when a male and a female walked straight to our door wearing a head torch.

“The man peered through our office window and established the location of our till. Using a rock, they smashed the office window, gained entry and took the till.”

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were called at around 8.15am on Thursday November 28 following reports of a burglary having taken place overnight at a premises on Pennygillam Industrial Estate, Launceston.

“It was reported that entry to the premises was forced and money stolen.

“Enquiries are ongoing. Anybody with information is asked to contact police on 101 or via our website quoting 50240300569.”
