More than £600 was raised for charity following a quiz night at Bude Golf Club this week.
Next year, Bude resident Chris Heywood is running the London Marathon in aid of the Lullaby Trust, a charity who support families who have experienced SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and help fund research into the syndrome.
Chris’ fundraiser explains: “Our good friends Rosie and Andy lost their son Archie on the August 15, 2010, when he was just over 24 hours old. In the weeks, months and years that followed they were supported in a multitude of different ways by the Lullaby Trust.
“Through the first devastating days, when they just listened, to helping understand the endless waiting for experts reports. To holding their hands through further pregnancies and then supporting them in the terrifying days when their subsequent children were born. Rosie and Andy now have two healthy sons aged 10 and 12.
“Rosie says that without the support of the Lullaby Trust they would have been absolutely lost and would never have been brave enough to have had another child.
“The charity works tirelessly to support bereaved families and to raise awareness of sudden infant death syndrome.”
In a bid to raise some money for this brilliant cause, Chris and his wife Alison organised a charity quiz night at Bude Golf Club.
Ninety people attended the event, raising a huge £620 for the charity.
“The support was just incredible,” said Alison.
