The partners at Waitrose Holsworthy have kindly donated funding to support a number of local good causes recently, through their Give A Little Love Scheme.
The most recent recipients include The Long House in Holsworthy, The Pearl Exchange in Bude and The Wave Project.
A spokesperson for the Long House said: “During the pandemic the Long House sadly had to close with all services happening remotely where possible. After almost two years the doors to the Long House are open once again and our Supportive Care Team are there to welcome people back.
“So far this year, a bereavement group has run, along with one to one counselling and complimentary therapy sessions. This summer there will be a project group for patients which we’re looking forward to. Thank you so much to Waitrose for your years of support, it’s because of you that our nurses and counsellors are able to support local people facing life-limiting illnesses. Fliss Loxley, project manager from The Pearl Exchange, said: “The money from Waitrose has gone towards our general running costs. The Pearl Exchange is a creative hub in Bude, North Cornwall which supports 18 to 30 year old’s. Through a series of creative, educational workshops and talks delivered by industry professionals participants are encouraged to discover, explore and develop creative pursuits through which they will gain vital life skills, aspirations and self-esteem.
“Our delivery model combines creative engagement with high-quality mental health support. So, integral to the hub is access to free or highly subsidised professional therapy and counselling to improve participant’s mental health and resilience.
“The donation from Waitrose has helped us to deliver our creative programme and counselling.”
Delighted to once again be able to support a number of great local causes, Waitrose & Partners Holsworthy Community Champion Marilyn Chidley added: “Waitrose Holsworthy covers a very large area which includes North Devon and North Cornwall, so it’s really important for us to support charities within the whole Area.
“During our latest round of Give a Little Love Funding we focused on Health and Wellbeing Charities, and it allowed us to support groups with a £500 donation. I know the money will be put to good use within our community. Each one provides a valuable service and I hope they all go on to flourish in the coming months. The other recipients were Noah’s Place and Young Carers Connected both based in the North Devon Area.”
