IT was a sell out for Holsworthy’s amateur theatrical society as they performed ‘Calendar Girls’, a play by Tim Firth.
It meant the group could present cheques of more than £1,000 to two local charities.
A spokesperson for the society said: “Holsworthy Amateur Theatrical Society (HATS) enjoyed seven sell out performances for their run of Tim Firth's play, 'Calendar Girls'.
“The opening night, which was sold as a charity night, saw record numbers attend which meant a thrilled director, Eve Earles, could present cheques to the sum of £1334 to both MDS UK Patient Support Group, and Cancer Research UK (Bude/Stratton). It was wonderful to have representatives from both charities be able to attend.
“The poignant performance caused audience members to shed a tear, and the roof was lifted with the sound laughter. There is no doubt that the Calendar Girls and their fellow actors have certainly caused a stir in the local community.
“HATS are delighted to have cast their next production: Cinderella, due to be performed February 3 to 15, 2025. Tickets go on sale online from Saturday, November 2. Box office will be open this day from 10am to 2pm, and then Saturdays from January 11, 2025.”
