Gritters are out on Cornwall’s roads today (Wednesday, January 8) as another yellow weather warning for ice and snow comes into force overnight.

A spokesperson for Cormac said: “With new snow and ice warnings in place across most of Cornwall until 12pm tomorrow please take extra care if you are travelling on the roads. Our gritters will be heading out again from 3pm this afternoon with a second treatment at 3am tomorrow.

“Remember not all roads are treated as they are not part of our precautionary routes. Even when roads have been salted, this doesn’t always mean they will remain clear of ice or snow.”

The gritters cover around 870 miles of the county’s critical road network on every full run. A map of gritter routes can be found at: ow.ly/4OGz50UaNXF.
