THE members of the East Cornwall Hunt gathered at their usual meeting ground in Bolventor for the annual Boxing Day meet.
Despite a low turnout of riders, a good crowd attended to see the group off as they followed a pre-laid scent trail across Bodmin Moor.
On the day, one of the riders announced: "Thank you to all who have come out to support us today. We will be operating within the law and the scent trails have already been set."
The hunt is an event that draws much conflict, and as such a number of saboteur groups announced ahead of Boxing Day that they would be out across Devon and Cornwall in the pursuit of ending such meets.
Action Against Foxhunting (AAF) says of Boxing Day: “If you want to object to a meet, you will need evidence. Collect it this year and spend the next year challenging the hunt – try to get it stopped for next year. We do support protests, but if you want to get good evidence it is best to stand back and just record and record and record...”
