Larger entry met a brighter trade.
Top per kilo being 325ppk for a pen of 38.5kgs £125 from Matthew Petherick, Slyddon, North Petherwin. Allan Marshall, Beechworthy, Chilsworthy realised 321ppk for a pen of 43kgs £138.
The King family, Monkokehampton saw their 42kgs make 321ppk £135. Heavies met a stronger trade topping at £180 from Malcom Tucker, Yelverton. Steve Cottle, Upcott, Welcombe saw his 60kgs top at £168.50. Several other pens around £160.
Draft Ewes
Larger entry and the trade was on fire and flying from start to finish, with an overall average of £180.41.
Top per head was £252 for a Charollais x ewe from Mr A Short, Week St Mary. Suffolk x ewes to £233 from Greenfield Farms, Callington. Numerous other pens of Suffolk x ewes to £230 from S Walker, Norton Farm, Bridgerule. Mules to £185 from Messrs Crocker, Brambleham, Lydford.
Couples 60E & 85L
A very fast trade for all on offer.
Doubles up to £335 from Stuart Woollen, Huntshaw, who also topped the Singles at £240.
95 New Season Lambs
More lambs on offer met with a lot more interest and a lot more could have been sold.
Top per kilo being 383ppk for a pen of 40.2kgs £154 from Geoffrey & Simon Grigg, Weach Barton, Bideford, followed by 376ppk for two pens of 45kgs from Chris & Sally Prouse, Court Green, Clawton which also was top per head on the day at £169.
Followed by £168.50 for a pen of 45.4kgs from Mike Watkins, Lower Hollam, Torrington.
434 Calves
Big numbers of young milk calves unloaded again this week, trade would have been more varied compared to recent weeks with some of the best heavy continental calves less money towards the end of the sale, however the mediums and smalls very much in demand from start to finish.
Weaned Calves
Fewer weaned calves around on the day, all being in from Steve and Kat Pomeroy, Putford sold to another strong trade topping at £720 (x7) for 5 month old British Blue steers and £660 (x3) for British Blue heifers.
Milk Calves
Older British Blue bulls to £800, £740 (x2) for Nigel Dunn, North Tawton, £730 (x3) for O Petherick & Son, Kilkhampton.
Younger sorts to £710 for Bradley Farm Partnership, Hallworthy and £695 for JC Jenkins & Son, Bradworthy. Another huge run of Blues up from Truro for Chris Tucker saw a rip roaring trade reaching £590 on 3 occasions with 25 of their Blue bulls over £500 looking a sensational trade.
Charolais bulls to £640 for LJ Goaman & Sons, Hartland, 2 storming sorts reach £630 (x2) for RG & LA & SR Wearing, Tavistock more for the Goamans to £615, £610, £605 and £600 with all Charolais bulls averaging £574! Limousin bulls to £635, £632 and £608 for NJ & KC Bowden, Highampton.
Everyone out looking for Aberdeen Angus bulls which reached £600 for J & ML Chamberlain & Son, Shebbear, £492 for LD Heywood, Hartland, £485 for CJ & VJ Tucker, Truro, £480 (x2) for SJ Brenton & JA Eastley, Liskeard more to £480 and £465 for CJ & VJ Tucker looking well sold compared to age.
Whopping Hereford bulls to £585 for JC Jenkins & Son, Bradworthy, £560 J & ML Chamberlain & Son again, £500 again for JC Jenkins & Son, £495 for RWH Dilling, Highampton and £490 CJ & VJ Tucker again. Simmental bulls to £485 for GF, JE & LJ Duke, Launceston, £470 for RJ & GJ Tucker, Crediton, £410 and £400 again for GF JE & LJ Duke.
Belted Galloway bulls sold well and topped at £320, others to £262, £260 from Leeson Farming Partnership, St Giles. British Blue heifers selling to a premium to £680 for a really shapely sort for GF, JE & LF Duke again, £620 for NJ Cook, Buckland Brewer, £615 (x2) for JG & S Endacott, Halwill and £610 twice for JC Jenkins & Son again and DKN & DM Furse, Ashwater.
31 Blue heifers in from Chris Tucker sold over £400 with several of theirs over £500 this week. Charolais heifers to £605, £570, for LJ Goaman & Sons again and £540 for JR Frayne, North Petherwin to go on to average £496.
Older Welsh Black heifers to £590 from WG Heal & Son, Bratton Flemming. Hereford heifers to £550 for A Cole, Bratton Flemming, £490 for O Petherick & Son again, £465, £440 for JC Jenkins & Son again and £405 (x2) for CJ & VJ Tucker. Limousin heifers to £450 for B & N Davey Partnership, Boyton, £415 for J & CA Bray, Werrington and £340 for GF JE & LJ Duke.
Simmental heifers to £402 to RJ & GJ Tucker, Morchard Bishop. Aberdeen Angus heifers a great trade and sold to £405 for CJ & VJ Tucker, £402 for LJ Goaman & Sons, £400 for RW Finnimore, Congdon Shop, and £395 (x2) for SJ Brenton & JA Eastley. Belted Galloway heifers to £350 (x2), £330 and £280 for Leeson Farming again. Devon heifers to £240 (x2) for NT & PM Down & Son, Chulmleigh.

Not too many around, topped at £390 for O Petherick & Son, and averaged £198!
360 Store Cattle
Another fantastic trade at Holsworthy for a good entry and quality was much improved.
Top on the day of £2500 for a 26mth British Blue from Messrs H & M Thorne, Umberleigh. Other British Blues from Messrs RL Heard & Son, Hartland £2480 (x2). 20mth well fed British Blues from Messrs D & E Kirk, Ashwater £2310 (x2) and £2300 (x3).
Younger British Blues from Messrs CT Banbury & Son, Broadwood £2270. Two outlying Limousin steers from Mr J Collings, Treburley £2380. Another quality consignment of single suckled Charolais 22mths from Messrs G & H Butt, Okehampton saw strong bidding to £2210 (x6), others £2190.
Native steers in short supply topping at £2230 for two at 20mths from Mr SO Metherell, Hartland. A wonderful consignment of well fed heifers from Messrs HR Yelland & Son, Clawton topped with a Limousin at £2190, other Limousins £2020.
British Blues from the same farm £2090 (x3) and Simmentals to £2080. Single suckled Charolais heifers 23mths from Messrs G & H Butt, Okehampton £2060 (x2). Dairy x Charolais again from Messrs HR Yelland & Son, Clawton £2010, others from the same farm £2000.
Six wonderful 21mth Charolais heifers from Messrs D & E Kirk, Ashwater £2000. Native heifers again strong with plenty of grazing 16mth heifers £1700. Stronger feeding types topping at £2000 for two 21mth From Mr SW Graham, Marhamchurch.

Quality perhaps back on previous weeks but still a very strong trade.
Young 15mth Aberdeen Angus steers from Messrs FC & SJ Wade & Son, Bradworthy topped at £1700 (x9). Aberdeen Angus steers from Messrs C Brooking & Son, Northlew £1580, who sold Limousins to £1580.
Others from the same farm £1530. Young Hereford steers 13mths from Mr JH Bailey, Bude £1630 (x3). Other 12mth Hereford steers from Messrs CR & CF Timms & Son, Okehampton £1540 (x4).
British Blues to £1500 from Mr JH Bailey, Bude. Other 9-10mth British Blue steers from Messrs JC Jenkin & Son, Bradworthy £1400, who sold British Blue heifers to £1610. 5mth British Blue heifers from Messrs Parker & Burnett, Tiverton to £840.

A cracking run of Charolais 14mths from Messrs LJ Goaman & Son, Hartland saw steers to £1900, others £1830 (x5) and £1800 (x6). Heifers £1670 (x2), £1590 (x5) and £1580 (x3).
