STUDENTS and staff at Launceston College, part of Athena Learning Trust, have said goodbye to a member of staff who has served the school community since 1980.
Carol Unwin began her time at Launceston College as a teacher before transitioning into various roles, with her final position being a key member of the Outdoor Learning Team. Throughout her impressive tenure, Carol has been a driving force in the college's outdoor learning initiatives. She is particularly recognised for leading students in the annual Jubilee Challenge, instilling in students a love for adventure and appreciation for the natural world.
During her 45 years of service Carol's passion for outdoor education and her wealth of knowledge have had a lasting impact on countless students. She has also worked alongside an incredible 11 principals, providing them all with a constant source of support.
Carol has decided now is the perfect time to embrace retirement and enjoy some well-deserved peace and quiet in her garden.
Mr Matthew Thompson, principal at Launceston College, said: “Carol's dedication to Launceston College is truly remarkable. She has been an integral part of our community for four and a half decades, witnessing significant changes and inspiring generations of students. We are incredibly grateful for her contributions and the legacy she leaves behind."
