A charity shop in Launceston was reportedly broken into at the weekend and a donation box stolen.

The Oxfam shop on the corner of Broad Street and Southgate Street currently has a board across its front door due to damage. The store remains open.

A shop spokesperson told the Post they believed only a charity box had been taken, adding: “We had to close all-day Saturday because there was so much glass on the floor that needed clearing up.”

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were called shortly after midnight on Saturday, February 1, following reports of a break-in at a commercial premises on Broad Street, Launceston.

“It was reported that entry to the premises was forced and a donation box stolen.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
