AN upcoming comedy gig is hoping to raise money for a Launceston resident who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Wing It Comedy has announced that it is hosting a night of local laughs to raise money for a deserving cause.

On October 27, a variety of comedians will be coming together at Bowden Derra Park to raise money for Casey Powell and raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

At the age of 26, local resident Casey Powell has been diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.

Casey’s sister, Lauren explained: “She is honestly the most kindest and sweetest girl and really is the light of our family she really knows how to put a smile on peoples faces.

“She has a heart of gold she would do anything for anyone without hesitation she really does not have a bad bone in her body.

“She has to undergo eight rounds of chemo therapy which will lead to her getting very sick and will put her out of work for at least eight months.

“A few months ago she had a big surgery which she was meant to be off work for, for six weeks but went straight back into work after two.

“She has worked all her life and it’s becoming hard for her to come to terms with how she will pay her bills and things she needs as she will be out of pocket, in January she started her dream career in the ambulance service which is another thing that has had to be taken away from her.”

Now, in an effort to support Casey through this tough time, a charity comedy night has been organised.

The comedy night will be headlined by TV's Patrick Monahan, and supported by local comedians Suzy Bennett, Kushna Hurry, Ian Bowden, TV's Alf and the amazing Louis Burgess.

As well as this, a Go Fund Me page has been set up to raise funds to assist Casey.
