A NURSE at Kernow House in Launceston has been crowned Registered Nurse of the Year for the Hospitals and Complex Care Division in the Barchester Care Awards 2024.
Delia Raicu said she is “over the moon” and has now made it through to the national round of judging.
The Barchester Care Awards celebrate the staff who go the extra mile for the benefit of the 13,000 residents living in Barchester’s 261 care homes and private hospitals across the country. Categories range from ‘Registered Nurse of the Year’ and ‘Carer of the Year’ to ‘Dementia Care Champion’ and ‘Activities Coordinator of the Year’.
More than 5,000 nominations were received from homes and hospitals across the UK. All entries were a very high standard and Delia is over the moon to have been named the winner for the Hospitals and Complex Care Division beating hundreds of other nominees.
Delia said: “It is good to feel recognised for doing a job that I love. I have passion and empathy. I do my best for the residents and I aim to do my best and be the best that I can every day at work.”
As the winner for the division, Delia is through to the national finals in which the overall winner is decided. They will join winners from across the UK at a special awards event in October to celebrate their outstanding achievements and discover if they have won a national award.
General manager at Kernow House, Leigh Stanley, said: “This is an amazing achievement and the whole home is supporting Delia. We are so proud of her. Delia has been with us at Kernow House for 19 years. She is clinically very competent and passionate about supporting residents, relatives and staff. Delia is a real asset to us.
