MORE than thirty members, families and friends of the Bude Tennis Club participated in a ‘Walking Quiz’ along the canal recently.

With the sun shining after the morning rain, teams set off from the Bude Recreation Ground on a two-kilometre route looking for clues and trying to decipher the answers.

There was a great variety of questions ranging from anagrams to cryptic to general knowledge and they certainly tested the grey matter.

When all the teams had returned to the Clubhouse, the answers were revealed, and the winners announced. Congratulations to John and Sue Brooks, David Vaughan and Judith Wood. Everyone then tucked into a delicious spread.

A spokesperson said: “A huge thank you must go to David and Joan Coney for devising the questions and providing a wonderful and fun afternoon’s entertainment.”

The Bude Tennis Club is also very grateful to all the local businesses who donated raffle prizes for our Spring Social and the Walking Quiz. Namely; Tarquin’s Gin, Crooklets Beach Café, Shine at Nine Hairdressers, Saltrock, North Coast Wine, Budehaven Recreation Ground, Wroes, Spencer Thorn, Hannah Woodgate Hair Design, Budeful, Rock Gin, Craig Viner (our LTA accredited coach) and other club members.

The spokesperson added: “We have managed to raise £320 that will go towards providing Junior Coaching Sessions and thus, hopefully increasing the membership and securing the future of the Club.”
