A Bude fundraiser has shaved for a number of causes close to his heart.
Kim and Allan Gouldson are well know for their creative fundraising ideas.
At the end of December they had the inspired idea of Allan dying his moustache and beard purple with a view to showing it off for a month and then shaving it off at the end of January. His grandchildren even helped him decorate his beard for Christmas.
Allan said: “As all my friends and family know, I have been diagnosed for many years with Motor Neurone Disease. I sadly am no able longer to walk but still want to make as much of a difference as I can to raise money for my two chosen causes.
“MNDA Cornwall Branch are a brilliant support to me, my wife and wider family including my grandchildren. My life would be much impoverished without my extensive support network.
“I also support the work of the Bude Branch of Animal Free Research UK. They ensure that money I raise stays local to me and is used to fund the Animal Replacement Centre (ARC 2.0) in Exeter.
“I have had a beard for over 30 years so it will seem very strange indeed!”
Allan had a great deal of support and received donations of £560 which was a great start to the new year for both causes.
A spokesperson added: “Well done Allan, we wonder what you will think of next.”
