HOLSWORTHY fire crews battled for more than five hours after a fire broke out in Highampton.
Crews from Holsworthy and Torrington, as well as the water bowser from Barnstaple were mobilised to the incident at around 11.31pm on March 17.
Upon arrival, crews found a large 10 metre by 10 metre deep seated area of plastic and wood materials well alight. To tackle the blaze, crews used a ground monitor, two 45mm attack jets, two hosereel jets, two breathing apparatus, and a privately owned telehandler to assist with turning over the smouldering contents.
A spokesperson from Holsworthy Fire Station said: “Crews successfully extinguished the fire and left the scene just after 5am to return back to home station, to clean and service our equipment. The cause was accidental.”
